SPL is hiring a Gas Measurement Technician I for field‑based gas measurement operations in Carthage, Texas. The role involves performing meter inspections, data collection, calibration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of gas measurement equipment, working both independently and alongside experienced technicians while adhering to established procedures and safety standards.
Technicians are expected to ensure accurate and compliant data, maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment, and communicate field findings and work status with supervisors and team members. The position offers hands‑on field work and continuous skill development in gas measurement systems.
- Perform field‑based meter inspections, calibrations, data collection, and routine maintenance of gas measurement equipment.
- Verify meter accuracy and ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards (AGA, GPA, API, BLM/COGCC).
- Collect, record, and submit measurement data, field notes, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with installation, inspection, and troubleshooting of gas measurement equipment and related instrumentation.
- Identify and report measurement discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety concerns.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in proper working condition.
- Communicate field findings and work status with supervisors, operations personnel, and team members.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with relevant field experience considered in lieu of formal education. Required qualifications include hands‑on experience with gas measurement or oil‑field instrumentation, working knowledge of industry standards such as AGA, GPA, API, and BLM/COGCC, strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer proficiency, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

- Possess hands‑on experience with gas measurement, instrumentation, or oil and gas field operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations (AGA, GPA, API, BLM/COGCC).
- Have strong mechanical and technical aptitude, including the ability to use hand tools and troubleshoot basic issues.
- Exhibit basic computer proficiency for email, data entry, and use of mobile/laptop devices.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
