Accountant

Description

The Accountant plays a key role within the Accounting Department, responsible for the accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of financial transactions. This position ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, supports timely invoicing and cost tracking, and contributes to budgeting and forecasting activities. The Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally to maintain financial integrity and support operational decision-making.

• Prepare regular financial reports, including P&L summaries, variance analyses, and KPI dashboards.
• Partner with finance, procurement, supply chain, and operations teams to align financial data with business activities.
• Allocate costs to appropriate projects, departments, and cost centers.
• Coordinate with operations and project teams to validate billing data and ensure proper revenue recognition.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and filings.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering required documentation and analysis.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Record, review, and reconcile financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Track and analyze expenses across labor, materials, and overhead.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Support internal controls and ensure all accounting activities comply with audit and tax requirements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Provide training and guidance on accounting procedures, expense tracking, and invoicing protocols.
• Serve as a resource for financial inquiries from internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
• Support product and job costing efforts to evaluate profitability and efficiency.
• Generate and process customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical capabilities.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting practices.
• ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• CPA or CMA certification (or in progress).
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of revenue recognition and tax compliance principles.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
