Geotechnical Project Manager

Description

Key duties include performing and overseeing geotechnical calculations and design drawings, focusing on public and private development projects with regulatory permitting expertise in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and supervising staff. Responsibilities also cover preparing proposals, directing site investigations and soil borings, reviewing contracts for scope and schedule, managing client relationships, and ensuring contractual commitments are met. The manager will control project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, quality control, health and safety concerns, and coordinate billing with the accounting department.

• Perform and oversee geotechnical calculations and design drawings.
• Supervise, review, and mentor staff work.
• Conduct site investigations, soil borings, and geotechnical inspections.
• Prepare proposals and review contracts for scope, schedule, and milestones.
• Manage project scope, procedures, budgets, and ensure contractual compliance.
• Control project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, and maintain quality control.
• Monitor fees, budgets, and coordinate billing with accounting.
• Address health and safety concerns on assigned projects.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, with a preferred M.S. specialization in geotechnics, and is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey and/or New York. Ten or more years of regional geotechnical experience, proven client development, talent mentorship, and strong leadership and decision‑making abilities are required. Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, proficiency with geotechnical software, a valid driver’s license, and a demonstrated record of ethics are also essential.

• Hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. in geotechnical specialty preferred.
• Maintain PE licensure in NJ and/or NY with 10+ years regional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop clients, grow business, and mentor talent.
• Strong analytical, judgment, communication, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software and standard computer applications.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
