Senior Quantity Surveyor - Freelance

This contract role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for end-to-end commercial management while working flexibly within a dynamic development team. With a strong pipeline of current and upcoming schemes, there is potential for long-term, ongoing work.

As a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial and financial delivery of several live projects, working alongside the in-house development, design, and delivery teams. You will lead cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial reporting to ensure each scheme is delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standard.

• Oversee valuations, variations, and final account agreements
• Manage procurement processes, tendering, and contract negotiations
• Provide clear and accurate commercial reporting to senior leadership
• Prepare, update, and manage cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery
• Lead commercial management across live projects from feasibility to final account
• Identify value engineering opportunities and support risk mitigation

A well-established and forward-thinking Surrey-based property developer is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support multiple residential and mixed-use schemes across Surrey and the South East.

• Strong background in residential and mixed-use development
• Comfortable working on a freelance / contractor basis (ideally Outside IR35)
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar (RICS desirable but not essential)
• Highly organised, proactive, and commercially focused
• 5+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor (developer, contractor, or consultancy)
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent schemes
