The role requires maintaining collaborative relationships with facility, nursing, and contract staff, applying corporate and correctional policies while exercising independent judgment, and helping shape medical unit policies. The incumbent will also look for ways to improve operational efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of health services.
- Maintain strong working relationships with facility staff, nursing teams, contract providers, and external agencies.
- Apply corporate, facility, and correctional policies while exercising sound independent judgment.
- Assist in developing, interpreting, and enforcing medical unit policies and contracts.
- Identify and recommend improvements to operational efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of health services.
- Complete annual written performance evaluations for directly supervised staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels, fill gaps during shortages, and perform nursing duties such as executing physician orders, assisting examinations, dispensing medications, treating emergencies, and screening patients for referrals.

Effective communication with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public is essential, especially in diplomatic or formal settings. The administrator will conduct annual performance evaluations, ensure adequate staffing, and may perform nursing duties such as executing physician orders and emergency care when needed.
- Communicate clearly and diplomatically with administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors, and the public, including interviewing, providing instructions, mediating disputes, and testifying in formal settings.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a healthcare/business‑related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum three years of relevant management experience in a healthcare environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of correctional custody methods, facility regulations, supervision, training, and management principles.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
