Description

• Read, understand, and interpret construction documents (e.g., design drawings, submittals).
• Develop equipment‑level testing procedures based on project documentation.
• Assist in development of system‑level testing documents.
• Direct equipment‑level testing to confirm operation meets project requirements.
• Implement project processes to meet industry certification programs.
• Review equipment performance data (e.g., BMS trend data, field measurements) and identify normal and abnormal operational characteristics.
• Conduct project site surveys and record technical information.
• Develop technical field reports based on site survey results.
• Maintain affiliation with a major professional organization (e.g., BCA, AEE, ASHRAE, USGBC).

Requirements

We are seeking a Senior Engineer for the Field Department in our New York office, preferably within commuting distance to Long Island. The Senior Engineer brings strong design knowledge, understands the project process, and coordinates with other engineering trades to ensure designs meet owner, JB&B, or design engineer standards. The role also involves contributing positively to the office environment, working closely with senior staff, and participating in office activities.

• Read, understand, and interpret industry standards, guidelines, and certification programs (e.g., LEED, WELL, ASHRAE).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience.
• Basic understanding of MEP design software tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
• Fundamental understanding of Energy and Building Codes as they relate to field work.
• Advanced understanding of documentation formats for preconstruction, construction, turnover, and close‑out phases.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting various field‑related issues.
• Understanding of basic proposal/add‑service and scope language.
