PRACTICE WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment
Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands
Test and verify proper operation of components, connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and ventilation fans
Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation
Tests joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector, verifies leak free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold test
Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques
Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units
Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs various refrigerant valves in circuit(s)
Install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging up to 500 tons cooling capacity in warehouses, barracks and commercial buildings

Knowledge and proficiency of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of commercial and industrial grade HVAC equipment
Be adaptable and flexible in work situations
Experience must include inspection, disassembly, assembly, replacement and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems to include compressors, motors, burners, pumps, filters, ductwork, pipes, valves, refrigerants and their recovery systems and pressure vessels
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
4+ years of ADVANCED experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and operation of COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain one
Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
Experience in installing, calibrating, troubleshooting and replacement of control systems is required
Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
