Head of Cyber Engineering

Description

As a key member of Element Materials Technology’s Cyber Security Leadership team, the Head of Cyber Engineering will shape the company’s cyber security strategy, transformation roadmap, and governance framework. The role leads a global team of security engineering experts, fostering an environment that attracts and retains top talent. Although the position is not primarily hands‑on, the leader remains technically engaged and may intervene directly on critical initiatives, complex problems, or high‑severity incidents.

• Hire, develop, mentor, and manage a global team of security engineers.
• Lead deployment of security tools and platforms across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Create secure‑by‑design solutions and automate repeatable security tasks.
• Foster a positive cyber security culture throughout the organization.
• Define and drive the long‑term cyber security vision aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee delivery of cyber engineering components of the security strategy.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, embedding security early in system and product designs.
• Prioritize and organize security mechanisms based on risk and technology direction.
• Identify cost‑effective security solutions aligned with the technology roadmap.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement standard security products and technologies.
• Design and document reusable security components for bespoke needs.
• Collaborate with Group IT infrastructure and development teams on implementations.
• Identify capability gaps, build business cases, and secure funding for security initiatives.
• Lead enterprise‑wide security technology deployments and transformation projects.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership during critical incidents and high‑priority initiatives.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Possess 10+ years of cybersecurity or security engineering experience with a strong technical foundation.
• Demonstrated progression from hands‑on engineering roles to senior technical leadership.
• Experience operating in complex, global technology environments.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Deep knowledge of threat models and frameworks such as Cyber Kill Chain, MITRE ATT&CK, and Diamond Model.
• Expertise in security technologies across network, endpoint, application, identity, and cloud domains.
• Background in offensive security, penetration testing, or threat‑led engineering.
• Proven track record designing and implementing security solutions in cloud‑first and hybrid settings.
• Experience leading security engineering teams, defining roadmaps, and delivering complex platforms.
• Skilled in threat modelling, risk identification, and risk management.
• History of delivering large, cross‑functional projects with evolving requirements.
• Ability to blend technical depth with business acumen for diverse stakeholder audiences.
