Senior Architect

Description

• Prepare and submit feasibility studies, planning applications, contributing to the preparation of fire safety certificates, disability access certificates, and building control documentation.
• Manage the BCAR process: assemble associated information for tender and commencement and oversee compliance during construction through to handover.
• Manage design development and technical delivery, ensuring compliance with building regulations, statutory requirements, and sustainability standards.
• Lead projects through all RIAI/RIBA work stages, from concept to completion.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
• Participate in client presentations and design reviews.
• Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.

Requirements

We are seeking a Senior Architect with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience to join our Belfast team. The successful candidate will ideally have proven expertise in both Republic of Ireland and UK contexts.

• Ideally proficient in Microsoft Project
• Ideally familiar with the Capital Works Management Framework (CWMF) in Ireland.
• Professional Registration: ARB and/or RIAI.
• Ideally familiar with the Building Safety Act in the UK.
• Location: Based in Belfast; flexibility for travel across Ireland and UK.
• Passion for and experience of sustainable design methodologies.
• Strong graphical presentation skills.
• BCAR Familiarity: Ideally experienced in managing BCAR compliance.
• Communication: Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• ISO1960 Information Management Process fluency including preparation of BIM Execution Plans and associated documentation.
• Adobe Creative Suite skills, including Photoshop and InDesign, for design presentations.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction detailing and delivery
• Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows
• Experience in multiple sectors including residential, healthcare, commercial, and mixed-use, including existing buildings/adaptive reuse.
• Experience: Chartered Architect with minimum 7 years post-qualification experience in architectural practice.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of planning and other statutory permissions (fire safety, disability access), and building regulations, ideally both in Ireland and the UK.
• Familiarity with the ISO19650 Information Management Process
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
