Experienced Welder

Description

The welder will interpret technical drawings, mark and cut metal, set up and adjust welding equipment, and operate overhead cranes to position pole shafts. Safety devices and personal protective equipment are mandatory, and the employee will actively participate in department safety programs.

• Read blueprints and layouts to fit structural parts.
• Mark and cut metal using cutting torches.
• Weld structural components for steel poles, substations, and other structures.
• Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings.
• Operate overhead crane to move pole shafts and position materials.
• Use all safety devices and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Participate actively in department safety programs.

Requirements

The Columbus, Nebraska facility is seeking a highly motivated Welder to fabricate and repair metal components according to blueprints, layouts, or work orders. The role involves using brazing, arc and gas welding equipment to produce steel poles, substations, and other structures, while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Candidates must have MIG welding experience, a high school diploma or GED (or trade school equivalent), and at least one year of manufacturing or fabrication experience, including six months of professional welding. Strong teamwork, the ability to read measurements and follow instructions, a high safety awareness, and reliable attendance are required.

• Ability to read a tape measure and follow written/verbal instructions.
• High school diploma or GED (or accredited welding trade school graduation).
• Minimum one year manufacturing/fabrication experience.
• At least six months professional welding experience.
• Strong team orientation and positive communication skills.
• High safety awareness and ability to report maintenance or production issues.
• Reliable attendance and ability to meet production quality standards.
