During the internship you will work on a high‑functioning team, providing design services for a wide variety of projects under the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers. The program emphasizes your success, and the majority of interns convert to full‑time positions.
Key duties include performing detailed structural calculations under the lead engineer’s supervision, coordinating designs with AutoCAD and Revit, collaborating with diverse disciplines, assisting in field surveys, reviewing and organizing shop drawings, and attending seminars to stay current with industry trends.
The internship runs from mid‑May through mid‑August. GFT, an award‑winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm, is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to gain real‑world experience in a dynamic, inclusive environment.
Candidates must be enrolled in an ABET‑accredited bachelor’s or master’s program in Civil or Architectural Engineering, preferably with a structural emphasis. Prior internship, work, or coursework experience in structural engineering is required, along with familiarity with STADD, Revit, RAMSteel or equivalents, basic AutoCAD skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
Additional expectations include the ability to perform field inspections such as ladder climbing and man‑lift operation, strong written and verbal communication, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred qualifications are working proficiency in RAMSteel, AutoCAD, and Revit, as well as experience conducting structural analyses and preparing reports.
The hourly salary ranges from $21.00 to $28.00, depending on experience and geographic location.
