Skilled Welder - RedGuard

Description

The role involves handling information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Non‑U.S. persons selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to export‑restricted data.

• Performs daily fit up and lay out duties.
• Fabricates pieces, ensuring conformance with product specifications and blueprints.
• Maintains schedule and budgets for the task at hand and overall project.
• Follows established safety and security rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area and environment.
• Work in such a way as to create limited scrap or rework and work to continually improve quality level.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and twisting of body parts throughout the day.

Requirements

The Skilled Welder is responsible for fabricating, welding, and installing steel components used in blast‑resistant, modular and other industrial buildings. The role requires daily use of cranes, jigs, torches, plasma cutters, hand tools, and welding machines while meeting third‑party inspection requirements under AWS and CWB compliance standards. As a skilled welder, you support RedGuard’s goal of delivering quality products on time.

Tasks include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and twisting throughout the day, as well as working in hot or cold, dusty, and noisy environments. The position also requires close visual acuity for reading blueprints, inspecting small defects, and operating equipment.

• Proficiently welds components in flat, vertical and overhead positions.
• Cross-trains and uses additional trade skills in multiple stages of the manufacturing process as assigned.
• Some structural steel welding experience.
• Knowledge of proper fitting/welding techniques.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and product specifications.
• Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure.
• Ability to pass company required 3G/4G welding certifications, in less than 3 attempts, within three working weeks employment.
• Ability to successfully use the following hand tools: grinders, tape measure, squares, come-a-longs, torches, plasma, and other tools specific for job task.
• Basic computer skills.
• Associates degree or technical certificate in welding.
• 2-3 years in fitting/welding trades in structural steel construction.
• 2+ years of Short Arc and Flux Core MIG experience.
• 2+ years of fabrication experience.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, reading blueprints, inspecting small defects, operating machines, using measurement devices, and fabricating/welding parts at close distances.
• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
