During the internship, you will assist in creating discipline‑specific system designs that meet code and IMEG standards, research commercially available equipment, and support client relations by maintaining design notebooks and permanent documentation. You will also develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications, perform field work to document existing conditions, and carry out technical calculations and cost‑estimate support.
The role includes supporting process controls design, preparing bid package documentation, reviewing construction progress, and ensuring project documents are accurate before final checks. You will document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking progress, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
IMEG is offering a Chemical Engineering Intern position in Saline, MI, providing a 10‑12‑week, hands‑on experience in process design and optimization. Interns will work on analyzing, designing, and overseeing implementation of chemical processes that support safe, efficient, and sustainable operations, while building technical skills and a professional network.
Candidates must have completed at least two years toward a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, with prior internship experience in engineering consulting or the chemical process industry preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD software, and preferably AutoCAD Plant 3D, along with strong oral and written communication skills, is required, and the position is not eligible for sponsorship.
