As a Talen Energy intern, you will contribute to departmental goals through special projects, engage with senior executives to gain industry insights, join business resource groups to expand your professional network, and participate in impactful community service projects.
Interns will support various Radiation Protection activities at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. Project assignments include statistical analysis of radiation detection instrumentation calibration and quality‑control data, with the objective of reporting on instrument stability and providing recommendations based on performance history.
Basic qualifications require enrollment as a full‑time undergraduate or graduate student in Health Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline, a minimum of 12 semester hours, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, age 18 or older, and eligibility to work in the United States with an official transcript. Preferred qualifications include coursework in Health Physics/Radiation Physics, Mathematics, or Nuclear Engineering, strong mathematical and statistical analysis abilities, knowledge of analog/digital electronics, understanding of radioactive decay and detection processes, and strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, as well as a passion for learning in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment.
The Radiation Protection Internship is a comprehensive work‑study program designed to give college students hands‑on experience in power‑plant operations and office environments. It is ideal for students who want to explore career paths in nuclear power, health physics, or radiation protection, gain real‑world experience, and develop practical skills that complement academic learning.
