The Substation Project Engineer will lead the design and execution of substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory codes. The role involves developing scopes, budgets, and schedules, collaborating with internal teams, contractors, regulators, and consultants, and delivering technical reports to stakeholders.
- Lead design and execution of substation projects, ensuring compliance with CSA, NESC, and ANSI/IEEE standards.
- Develop and review project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and apply corrective actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants to facilitate delivery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments; devise mitigation strategies.
- Ensure engineering work adheres to client safety, environmental, and quality assurance policies.
- Prepare and present technical reports and project documentation to management and stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to improve processes.
- Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
- Provide engineering support and reviews to field crews during construction.
- Apply strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.

- Hold a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Bring at least 8 years of project engineering experience in utilities or energy, focusing on substations or power systems.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of regulatory codes and standards (CSA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE).
- Exhibit proven project management skills in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively in team environments.
Benefits
Compensation is an hourly rate of $75‑100 (DOE) as an independent contractor or employee, based in the Kelowna office with site visits and travel to Trail, BC.
