What you would be doing

  • Oversee all aggregate mining, production, sales, scaling, internal trucking, and reclamation operations in Southern and Central Oregon. This includes short- and long-term mine planning, drilling, and blasting operations, with a focus on safety, profitability, and efficiency.
  • Evaluate the performance of the management team; coach and challenge team members to build bench strength.
  • Ensure all aggregate quality requirements are consistently met.
  • Identify growth opportunities to expand Knife River’s footprint and reserves.
  • Collaborate with other superintendents and general managers in the region on issues related to production, quality, maintenance, environmental compliance, personnel, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agency requirements at each location.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of zero injuries, zero incidents, and zero citations.
  • Represent Knife River by attending and actively participating in relevant state and national industry associations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners and neighboring landowners.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all permit and operating requirements for each mine site, including operating conditions, permit sensitivities, boundaries, and renewal dates.
  • Monitor and maintain production reports, timecards, and other required documentation for mine sites.
  • Budget for and manage all capital improvement projects associated with the South-Central Aggregates Group. Oversee the maintenance of production and mobile equipment.

  • Experience with aggregate quality control processes.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Thorough understanding of MSHA regulations and experience working with MSHA inspectors.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to mine sites.
  • Understand all lease and royalty agreements.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to foster a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with others.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aggregate production and mining equipment operations.
  • Highly reliable and dependable.
