Field Application Engineer- VFD

In this Field Application Engineering (FAE) role you will be responsible for the successful implementation of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) product as well as understanding user needs and applications within the Industrial Automation Market Space. The role will require a high level of technical expertise of PM/IM motor control and commercial judgement to achieve desired business outcomes. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of the assigned product lines to support Product Management, Sales, and other functional groups to execute the strategy across Delta businesses, partners and customers. Creating strong working relationships with key stakeholders will be important to harnessing organizational impact beyond the assigned product technology and expanding beyond to the portfolio and solutions level. This role will be responsible for on-site support at customers, key accounts, and partners when the VFD is applied to Machine Automation (MA), Factory Automation (FA) and Process Automation (PA) - success will rely on leveraging progressive project management methodologies and an expert-level mindset. The ideal candidate will be especially curious and carry an entrepreneurial spirit.

• Testing new product introductions to verify they perform to specifications
• Staying up to date with industry and business: marketing trends, customer demographics, technical advances, and competition
• Work with PM and Marketing to make sure product documentation on web page production selection site and supplied to customers is accurate
• Post-Sales Trouble shooting product issues, validation, on-site and RMA/Rework Assistance
• Assist Product Launch and defines areas of product improvement for next gen
• Communicate ideas to a team and see the bigger picture of how your work will be used by others in the organization
• Attend tradeshows and support technical conversations with potential customers
• Verifying the Manual is correct compared to Function
• Increase application know-how, developing application notes for product and architecture
• Support Email, Web, and Phone call service requests
• Develops Power Points for Sales team to use when promoting the product
• Develop and maintain relationships
• Supplying any issues/bugs/errors back to the R&D team
• Support Sales team and Customers with product training.
• Follows policies/procedures to resolve routine issues

2) Product Knowledge

B.S.E. (EE or related) & 0-3 years experience

• Effective presentation skills
• Take responsibility, being comfortable with making decisions, and taking ownership of the role
• Ability to understand a customer needs and to probe for answers, and then determine solution and advocate that solution to the customer
• Communication skills to resolve routine automation product technical support issue within company policies/procedures
• Detailed and results oriented with a strong sense of initiative in tackling tasks
• Ability to manage multiple projects and activities at one time
• Solves limited scope product related problems from detailed instructions
• Able to create steps necessary to achieve realistic results-oriented goals
• Able to travel out of state and country (20-50%- travel)
• Technical capability to understand the product and applications

• Knowledge of using Microsoft office – Power Point, Excel, and Word
• Applies education and experience to professional concepts
• Knowledge and experience with Industrial grade VFD brands, variable speed control of induction motors or permanent magnet motors, and motor control theory
• Highly motivated self-starter with time management skills
• Knowledge and experience with Industrial grade brands in the selected product category
• Mandarin speaking ability a plus
• Ability to adapt to Delta’s unique and dynamic culture

• Pre-Sales application demonstration, design-in, test/POC, documentation
• Historically demonstrated technical capacity with a hands-on background in designing, installing, programming or testing of selected product category
