The Associate Director – Electrical Engineering role is based in Manchester and contributes to critical UK infrastructure programmes across sectors such as water, aviation, defence, energy, cities, and education. The position involves overseeing electrical engineering on both domestic and international iconic projects, spanning the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary design teams, defining briefs and scopes, and contributing to bid proposals. The role requires managing time, budgets and milestones, coordinating with UK and overseas teams, and establishing quality‑assurance standards for design work.
The successful candidate must be a Chartered Electrical Engineer with proven experience delivering electrical designs, including LV and HV systems, motor‑control centres, switchgear, and industrial installations. A thorough understanding of HAZOP assessments, DSEAR/ATEX practices, SLD/BCD production, earthing, bonding, and current UK design standards is essential.
Some positions may require UK security clearance, with the vetting process conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting. Candidates should not reference any existing clearance in applications, and must be able to provide proof of UK residency for five years if required.
