Description

• Solve challenging air‑quality problems in consultation with engineering, institutional and industrial clients
• Plan and coordinate technical aspects of projects primarily in Alberta and British Columbia
• Supervise data collection, modeling, post‑processing, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of engineering results
• Consult and answer technical questions from colleagues, project managers, and clients
• Write technical reports presenting methodology, results and recommendations
• Assist with preparation of proposals, marketing materials and technical papers
• Lead internal and external project teams to ensure technical excellence and quality of analysis and reporting
• Provide technical leadership to improve capability and capacity
• Develop emission inventories for industries including oil and gas, mining, and pulp and paper
• Act as technical liaison between internal project teams, external clients, and regulators

Requirements

The Air Quality department is seeking a Senior Scientist/Engineer with at least seven years of relevant experience to join the team in Vancouver, BC (or Calgary). The role reports to Matthew Butts and is a permanent full‑time position offering a salary between $105,000 and $130,000 per year.

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering or science discipline
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks for Alberta and British Columbia air‑quality assessments
• Experience developing emission inventories and running dispersion models under Alberta or British Columbia regulations
• Deep knowledge of air‑quality dispersion models such as AERMOD and CALPUFF
• Proficient with engineering analytical tools and word‑processing software
• P.Eng. designation with Professional Engineers Alberta or BC (asset)
• Advanced degree (asset)
• Understanding of meteorological modeling (asset)
• Experience with mesoscale photochemical modeling (asset)
• Strong people and team skills
• Proven organizational, decision‑making and coordination abilities
• Demonstrated initiative and independent problem‑solving capabilities
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Aptitude for practical problem‑solving and sound judgment
• Ability to travel occasionally
