Tasks

Observe flat drawings or diagrams and understand how they would look like solid objects. Work within precise standards of accuracy. Yates complies with applicable state and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment in every location where the company has facilities. A Civil Helper will assist the journeyman to complete tasks. They may lay out, assemble, and assist in complex tasks. Helpers learn mathematical functions and know their applications per their designated craft. They are also able to properly identify and receive instruction on the proper and safe use of, hand tools, power tools, equipment, and their procedures. May signal the concrete deliverer to position the truck to facilitate pouring. May mix cement or epoxy grouts using a concrete mixing machine or hoe. Assist with erecting, handrails, walkways, and gangways in conjunction with formwork. We do this by carefully managing the details and complexities of each project and communicating constantly with all team members. Assist with tie rebar. Operation of electric and pneumatic tools. -Maintaining and up-keep scaffolding materials, in proper order -Safely operates power vibrators to ensure the concrete is compacted. -Provide suggestions to improve Safety. -Loads, transport, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies. -Follow Yates Code of Conduct -Participate in required and assigned training. -Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools -Compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. -Positions and secures steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete. -Assist with erecting and dismantling scaffolding; inspect and sort scaffolding as required. -Participate in workplace inspections. -Assist with operating a transit/level to set the grade for paving forms, establish the sub-grade, and set the grade pens for the finished concrete grade. -Using hand and power tools, assist with fabricating and caring for rigging, such as slings, tackle, and ladders. -Assist with assembling and installing supporting structures, rigging, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools. -Nails cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms. -Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable, wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars. -Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of scaffold components using plumb bob, level, or other instruments. -Assist with setting forms for alleys, streets, driveways, sidewalks, ADA ramps, inlets, curbs, and concrete structure improvements. -May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing material and work pieces during installation. -Assist with polishing the surface using a power surfacing machine -May build or reinforce forms or bracing before pours. -May assist in welding reinforcing bars together, using arc-welding equipment. -May load and unload scaffold components and equipment. -May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment. -Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations. -Assist with pouring smoothing and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. -Assists in determining the number, size, shape, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions. -Assist with setting up hoisting equipment for raising and placing scaffold components. -Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management. -Assist with bolt or screw sections together. -Assist with preparing the layout of the form or fixture to be fabricated using lines or grades. -Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices -Assist with placing and finishing concrete to the correct grade to ensure proper drainage and smooth ride quality that adheres to all City, State, and Federal Standards. -Safety Responsibilities and Expectations Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management. What You Bring

-Other verified experiences or certifications with civil craft experience -Verifies accuracy of structure with transit, plumb bob, square, and level. -Present a mature approach to working safely. -Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related civil experience -Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation -Will work in windy and dusty environments -Level IV: Competent to complete Journeyman level Civil Craft tasks with minimal supervision. -One (1) year of industrial experience -Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs. -Apply basic mathematical skills. -Ability to talk and hear to communicate -Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4’ or above -Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List -Ability to select gear, such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weight and size, facilities, and work schedule. -Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related civil experience -Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting -Ability to hear bells, whistles, and alarms -Required to wear and maintain personal PPE. -Ability and assist with selecting scaffold component sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications. -Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related civil experience -Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights -Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related civil experience -All weather conditions at varying temperatures -Moderate to high noise levels -Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
