Director of Product Management

Description

• Partner with marketing to gather, synthesize, and cascade customer insights across the organization.
• Establish scalable SKU management and product governance processes.
• Listens to understand the needs of customers (internal and external). Builds trusting relationships and seeks innovative solutions for all customers. Always has the customer’s needs top of mind.

• Analyze monthly category performance (revenue, margin, pipeline) to inform tactical adjustments and strategic planning.
• Drive continuous improvement through cost optimization, reformulation, and value engineering efforts.
• Conduct ongoing market and competitive analysis to guide product decisions, positioning, and pricing.
• Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure product availability, quality, and efficient go-to-market execution.
• Identify and size addressable market opportunities and forecast category growth.
• Develop and champion multi-year product roadmaps grounded in customer needs, competitive analysis, and growth opportunities.
• Own strategic pricing, providing tools and guidelines for Sales based on cost, competitive dynamics, and profitability targets.
• Ensure all products meet regulatory, listing, and certification requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Define and execute a comprehensive product management strategy aligned with executive leadership’s goals and market dynamics.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to drive demand generation, channel enablement, and value messaging.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team
• Define and implement best practices in product management, including structured roadmapping, VOC integration, and portfolio reviews.
• Actively participate in industry events and associations to stay ahead of trends and influence market direction.

• Own the stage-gate process and ensure alignment across R&D, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain

Requirements

• Thinks three to five years ahead or beyond; challenges assumptions and conventional wisdom.
• Able to keep on track despite difficulties or barriers that may be encountered. Addresses conflict to find common ground solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field required. A master’s degree is preferred.
• Building material industry preferred
• At least ten years of experience in product management and long-range planning required.

• Experience with PM road mapping tools; high level modern technical knowledge

• Own full product lifecycle management including new product development, SKU rationalization, and line extensions.
