You will be heavily involved in Vital Energi’s development projects including bidding for and helping to develop Towns and Cities heat networks. This will involve presenting to a large range of clients and stakeholders.

Working within the pre-construction Design team, you will be responsible for interpreting and manipulating half hourly energy data, estimating building demands, modelling buildings to determine heating and cooling loads and creating building energy profiles to size renewable energy plant. You will contribute to RIBA Stage 2 & 3 reports to support Tender and Bid submissions. Familiarity with modelling the integration of low carbon technologies into buildings and on an energy network scale would be advantageous.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer for Strategy and Development, you will assist in the development of techno-economic models and help to prepare funding applications. This will include working closely with our wider Bid Team to undertake energy analysis and modelling to provide robust models to allow the development of concept designs and inform initial plant selections. This role involves modelling of district heating systems and other energy projects, and will require an understanding of technologies such as heat pumps, energy from waste, combined heat and power, boilers, thermal storage, solar and batteries.

  • Preparing funding applications
  • Liaising with Vital Energi’s in-house Bid Team, Solar PV designers and Proposals Engineers to influence designs and produce tender information.
  • Estimate building demands using available information and data, where information is not available use relevant benchmarks such as BSRIA and CIBSE to determine demands
  • Preparing summaries detailing modelling outputs for use in RIBA Stage 2 & 3 design reports.
  • Creating techno-economic models to model district heating networks and other energy projects and determine the most economically advantageous outcomes.
  • Interpret and manipulate data to provide annual demand curves from existing building data. This may be half hourly, daily, monthly or annual data for heating, cooling and power systems
  • Meeting clients and coming up with bespoke solutions for clients projects.
  • Sizing renewable technology plant based on the demand curves created and commercial considerations using Excel spreadsheets and software such as Energy Pro
