Assistant Project Manager (APM)

Description

The APM supports Project Managers and Construction Managers with daily tasks, ensuring consistent deliverables, strong subcontractor relationships, and adherence to schedule, cost, and quality expectations. The role bridges field and office efforts through collaboration, leadership development, and long‑term growth.

• Assist in drafting scope sheets, bid comparisons, and award recommendations.
• Develop and maintain project‑specific safety plans, site logistics, and inspection plans.
• Track and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and purchase orders.
• Create meeting agendas, document minutes, and follow up on action items.
• Coordinate subcontractor onboarding, insurance certificates, and compliance verification.
• Develop and update project schedules, including 3‑week lookahead plans.
• Prepare pre‑installation meeting documents and kickoff checklists.
• Distribute weekly project updates, forecast invoices, and manpower plans.
• Attend jobsite walks and meetings; produce follow‑up reports and logs.
• Coordinate field equipment needs and material deliveries.
• Support safety audits, issue tracking, and compliance reporting.
• Organize and maintain project files using OneDrive and BIM 360.
• Gather material certifications, test reports, and inspection logs.
• Maintain document control of drawings, submittals, specifications, and revisions.
• Generate and track punch lists, NCRs, and closeout documentation.

Requirements

• Apply knowledge of Sure Steel's QC Manual, safety policies, and erection sequencing.
• 1–3 years of construction experience, preferably with structural steel.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Proficient in reading drawings, specifications, and safety protocols.
• Skilled with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and project management software.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and an effective communicator.
• Willingness to travel and be onsite as required.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or obtain within 6 months).
• Ability to pass background and drug testing.

Benefits
