As a Project Planner or Senior Planner, you manage tasks, projects, and community engagement, work directly with our clients, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, pursue and win work, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You work with other planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers to deliver a variety of exciting project types focused on making places and travel experiences better for everyone. You are at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, integrating input from a broad range of stakeholders to create award-winning plans that lead directly to implementation.

Toole Design Group in Madison, WI is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Project or Senior Planner - Vision Zero. Do you have a strong background in transportation planning with multimodal experience? Are you passionate about systemic safety, vision zero, and safety for vulnerable road users?   • A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field or additional work experience in lieu of secondary education
  • Experience with Safe Routes to School, complete streets, active transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian wayfinding, or transportation demand management
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with crash modification factors or systemic safety analysis
  • GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS)

  • Project management experience, ideally working with multidisciplinary teams
  • RSP or AICP certification

A Day in the Life of a Project or Senior Planner

For Project Planner II candidates, with typically 8-10 years' experience, we are targeting a range of $81,000-$90,000. For Senior Planner candidates, with 10+ years' experience, we are targeting a range of $86,000-$102,000.

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2 days per week. The Madison office of Toole Design is conveniently located just off the Capitol Square, one block from State Street's bike friendly transit corridor and easily accessible by the Metro Transit bus system. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

This Planner position earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). All staff receive 8 holidays and earn at least 16 days of PTO over the course of the year. We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.
