Wind Turbine Technician - Tech One Program

Description

• Climb a 300‑foot wind tower multiple times per day
• Walk across the hub and descend by rope in emergencies
• Meet weight limits for tower ladders (250‑300 lb max including PPE)
• Perform repetitive motion activities, occasional kneeling and squatting
• Follow all assigned Environmental, Health and Safety procedures
• Perform basic mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades
• Verify work complies with customer requirements
• Execute work according to established procedures
• Document all work performed
• Report policy or procedure violations
• Submit progress reports
• Repair or replace parts
• Use activity tools safely
• Work independently on equipment maintenance projects as needed
• Dismantle and assemble basic machinery, components, equipment, or tooling

Requirements

TOP Wind Service Technicians receive GWO‑accredited safety and technical training and work primarily at a wind‑site near their home as part of a service team. They report to the Program Manager and Site Manager and, when on a job, to the Lead Technician. Technicians perform preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on turbine generators safely and efficiently, and handle machinery repairs under supervision.

• Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
• High School Diploma/GED and Associate Degree in Mechanical or Wind Energy, or equivalent experience
• Complete basic safety training (First Aid, CPR, Fall Protection)
• Complete tower safety training (high‑angle or wind tower rescue)
• Complete technical training (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic)
• Complete LOTO training and other required training
• Pass background check and drug screening
• Strong mechanical and electrical background preferred
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English
• Able to read basic diagrams and wiring schematics
• Skilled with MS Office applications
• Adapt quickly to a dynamic environment
• Effective communicator and team player
• Follow instructions and maintain strong organizational skills
• Comfortable working at heights of 300+ feet
• Work comfortably in confined spaces
• Frequent climbing, walking, standing, and bending
• Handle repetitive weight up to 50 lb
• Successfully complete climb tests and tower rescue training
• Travel up to 25% as required
• Work at heights and in all weather conditions
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and clear driving record
