Key responsibilities include supporting new‑product development and launch readiness for machined components, identifying critical product characteristics, and evaluating technical feasibility and cost impact. The engineer will lead capital‑investment projects for equipment, work‑holding, tooling and gauging systems, and use digital technologies and CNC simulations to validate layouts and production rates. Lean principles and tools will be applied to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement, while providing regular project updates to leadership.
The Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) organization is seeking a Senior Lead Manufacturing Engineer with deep CNC‑machining expertise. Based on our Sidney, Ohio campus, the role will support strategic manufacturing initiatives, share best practices across regional locations, and collaborate with global production and engineering teams. The focus is on developing and implementing new automation, gauging, and machining solutions that reduce cost and enable new‑product development.

Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field) and at least seven years of relevant experience. Candidates must interpret technical drawings with GD&T, possess strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational and communication skills, and be proficient in quality and lean tools (Process Capability, Statistical Analysis, PFMEA, Gauge R&R). Experience with 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, Inventor) and the ability to travel up to 5 % are also required; legal authorization to work in the United States is mandatory.
Preferred experience includes ten or more years in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, expertise in machining cast iron, highly automated manufacturing systems, industrial robot programming, Siemens NX 3D modeling, CAM programming and machine‑simulation software, and familiarity with Teamcenter PLM. Formal Lean and SPC training or certification is a plus.
This position is fully onsite at Copeland’s newly renovated Sidney campus, which offers 1 M sq ft of manufacturing floor and 120 k sq ft of advanced lab facilities.
