Heavy Truck Driver - Trailers

Description

A Heavy Truck Driver (Trailers) is responsible for operating heavy-duty trucks with attached trailers to transport goods, materials, or equipment over long or short distances. The role requires safe driving practices, adherence to transport regulations, timely deliveries, and proper handling of cargo.

• Operate heavy trucks with trailers (e.g., flatbed, dry van, refrigerated, low-bed, tanker) in a safe and efficient manner.
• Report delays, route changes, or delivery issues quickly.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer.
• Conduct long-haul and/or local deliveries as required.
• Complete and manage bills of lading, delivery receipts, and transport documents.
• Transport goods between warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing sites, ports, and customer locations.
• Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., DOT regulations).
• Comply with company policies, safety standards, and traffic laws.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and proper functioning of safety equipment.
• Check fluid levels, brakes, tires, lights, and overall vehicle condition.
• Report mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, fuel consumption, mileage, and deliveries.
• Plan travel routes considering delivery schedules, road conditions, and traffic regulations.
• Verify cargo quantity, documentation, and ensure proper weight distribution.
• Secure cargo using straps, chains, or other approved methods to prevent shifting during transit.
• Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment or assist loading teams when necessary.
• Represent the company professionally during all interactions.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers.

Requirements

• Strong time management and route planning skills.
• Heavy Duty Trailer Driver
• Proven experience driving heavy trucks with trailers.
• Long-Haul Truck Driver (Trailers)
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and safety inspections.
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and transport laws.
• CDL Driver – Tractor Trailer
• Exposure to varying weather and road conditions.
• Heavy Vehicle Driver – Trailers
• Ability to work long hours and handle long-distance driving.
• Valid heavy truck driving license (e.g., CDL / HTV / Trailer License depending on country).
• Good physical fitness to assist with loading/unloading when required.
