Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
Prepare specifications and data sheets for unique, requirement driven equipment, perform as the technical representative for the associated purchase order or subcontract, review vendor submittals, and manage the selected supplier’s technical performance
Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support engineering design decisions
Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
Assists project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
Prepares mechanical engineering reports for clients as required

Experience in Piping/Ventilation and Instrument Diagram (P&ID/V&ID) development, piping or HVAC system design, equipment, pipe, and duct sizing calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, or chemical process facilities.
Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
Level One: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering with five (5) years of progressive related professional work experience.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug and background check, which includes verification of employment and education.
Level Two: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering with eight (8) years of progressive related professional work experience.
U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Must be a US citizen
Experience with International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE, and/or SMACNA codes typically used in HVAC systems or experience with ASME B31 codes, ASME BPVC, and International Plumbing Code used in design of piping and plumbing systems.
