In this role you’ll support data‑center startups, perform on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, and lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems. You’ll partner with automation and controls engineers, troubleshoot and validate systems, and keep customers and project teams informed.
Travel follows a days‑on/days‑off rotation (e.g., 5‑on/2‑off, 10‑on/4‑off, or 14‑on/7‑off), bringing new challenges and locations each project. You’ll work with a variety of large‑scale customers while the ProAutomated team supports you.
We’re opening our 2026 hiring pipeline for curious, adaptable problem‑solvers who prefer travel and hands‑on work over a desk. If you can laugh through flight delays, think on the fly, and enjoy solving complex problems, you might be a perfect fit.
We are looking for candidates who love travel, can live within 50 mi of a major airport, and have a personal vehicle within 45 days of hiring. Preferred experience includes working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking, along with adaptability, grit, strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
A technical degree or equivalent hands‑on experience (3+ years) in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering is required, as is U.S. work authorization. Physical requirements include walking long distances, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and working in varied environments; reasonable accommodations are available.
Our four‑week paid training prepares technically skilled individuals for field work. Success requires a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking; if you lack experience in these areas, this role may not be right now.
Working with us means you’ll combine travel with work, experiencing new cities, tackling unique projects, and earning travel rewards while serving customers across North America. There is no fixed office; you’ll be on‑site, away from home, for the duration of each assignment.
Compensation starts at $60,000–$75,000 depending on location, education and experience, plus per‑diem meals, mileage reimbursement, utilization and weekend bonuses. We also invest in your growth with paid training, annual merit raises, and a guaranteed 5 % salary increase after six months.
Benefits include health, dental, life insurance, a matching 401(k), short‑ and long‑term disability, paid vacation and flexible time off after 18 months. Our people‑first culture emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, humor, and leaders who have risen through the same ranks.
