Evaluates historic resources to determine eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), and/or other relevant federal and state laws.
Provides quality reviews of reports prepared by others and offers peer mentorship to others on the team to develop team capabilities.
Gathers data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports of investigations. Also, compiles and organizes data collected by others.
Plan and lead field tasks, including architectural history surveys, conducting interviews, and archival research.
Prepares reports including: Historic Resource Survey Reports, Assessment of Effects, HABS/HAER documentation, MOAs/MOUs, Technical Screening reports, and contributions to NEPA documents.
Assists senior staff with business development for the Transportation Group.

6 years of professional Cultural Resource Management (CRM) experience, conducting historic resource surveys, archival research, and producing reporting for relevant regulatory compliance.
Master’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or related field, and 8 years of professional architectural historian experience or demonstrated equivalency of relevant experience.

8 years of experience in performing historic resources surveys and preparing reports for transportation projects administered by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and/or the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
Familiarity and working experience with Google Earth Pro, Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS Pro, and/or ArcMap. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experienced in professionalism, client-focused, self-motivated, possessing a high attention to detail, and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
6 years of experience applying NRHP criteria for evaluation and aspects of integrity to evaluate historic resources.

Working knowledge and experience applying Statewide Historic Contexts for Georgia (i.e. Georgia’s Living Places, Tilling the Earth, The Ranch House in Georgia, etc.) to historic resource evaluations.
Experience mentoring others and providing technical quality review of CRM documents.
Experience reading and interpreting transportation plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or related field, and 6 years of professional architectural historian experience or demonstrated equivalency of relevant experience.
8 years of experience coordinating historic resource evaluations and assessments with the Georgia SHPO.
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment within time and budget constraints.
6 years of experience with Federal and State CRM requirements, processes, and guidance, including Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, NPS NRHP bulletins, and Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History and History.
