Coating Line Team Lead

Description

The Coating Line Team Lead is a hands‑on supervisory role responsible for safe, high‑quality, and efficient operation of the coating line. The incumbent works side‑by‑side with production staff while providing day‑to‑day direction, coaching, and problem‑solving, serving as the primary point of ownership for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity on each shift.

• Lead safety compliance by enforcing PPE and LOTO, conducting JSAs, and stopping work for hazards.
• Perform hands‑on production tasks such as sanding, coating, inspection, startup, changeovers, calibrations, and line testing while coordinating labor to meet production goals.
• Ensure product quality through routine checks, SOP adherence, root‑cause analysis, and first‑pass yield improvement.
• Provide real‑time coaching, onboarding, cross‑training, and shift huddles to develop team accountability.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying process upgrades, running experiments, and maintaining problem logs, GEMBA boards, and visual management tools.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance by submitting work orders, assisting troubleshooting, and maintaining 5S and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with supervisors, quality, maintenance, engineering, and scheduling to support audits, SOP development, and documentation.

Requirements

The position works the first shift, Monday‑Thursday, from 4:00 am to 2:30 pm (10 hour days) in a manufacturing environment that includes exposure to coatings, wood dust, noise, and moving equipment. The role requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lb, and may involve flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, or holidays as operational needs dictate.

• Required qualifications: high school diploma (technical degree preferred), 2–5 years manufacturing/coating experience, strong safety mindset, mechanical aptitude, computer proficiency (Epicor, SCADA), forklift certification.
• Preferred experience: coating application, E‑Beam curing, and quality control.
• Personal attributes: strong communication, collaboration, problem‑solving, attention to detail, and willingness to flex across roles.
