The Maintenance Technician role is responsible for the upkeep, servicing, and repair of roadways and related infrastructure assets, including medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation, in accordance with contract standards and supervisor direction.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices to ensure safe Maintenance of Traffic (MOT).
- Perform basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures, equipment rooms, and related components.
- Repair and maintain roadway catch basins, sumps, pumps, fire hydrants, and other mechanical assets.
- Service ventilation, electrical, CCTV, emergency telephone, and lighting systems.
- Operate large trucks, specialized vehicles, and trailers to transport crew and equipment to job sites.
- Respond to emergency rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain and repair highway surfaces, potholes, striping, reflectors, and asphalt/concrete work.
- Control vegetation using mowing equipment, trimmers, and chemical treatments.
- Maintain signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting through repair or replacement.
- Conduct snow removal and sanding to keep roadways clear.
- Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and recognize hazards.
- Perform basic math calculations and interpret technical documents and diagrams.

The position requires frequent work at heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial lifts, as well as handling hand and power tools for concrete, asphalt, and mechanical repairs. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lb, work in varied weather and traffic conditions, and use PPE, respirators, and safety equipment while complying with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.
- Hold HS Diploma or GED; at least one year of infrastructure maintenance experience preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with good record; CDL, DOT, electrical or welding certifications highly desirable.
