

Provides non‑hazardous solid & liquid waste management, soil remediation and recycling services across North America.
The System Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining all aspects of the sort system to ensure safe and optimal performance. The position works closely with maintenance departments and provides recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives. This role is not an information technology position.
Daily duties include inspecting the system during warm‑up, cleaning specialty equipment such as screens, Eddy currents, and drum feeders, and ensuring work areas remain clean and organized. The technician troubleshoots to prevent jams, balances fiber and containers on the line, and monitors critical components like the film hood, bag breaker, and drum feeders during production.
System downtime, repairs, and observations are documented on provided forms and submitted to the supervisor. The technician maintains steady material flow by adjusting screen angles, disk and conveyor speeds, and communicates with other operators to support operational changes and efficiency.
The technician assists the department with absenteeism and vacation coverage, reports absences to the manager, communicates with administrative, plant, and supervisory staff, and may provide training as needed while complying with company policies.
Candidates must have at least two years of experience in a recycling facility, a strong understanding of the sorting process, and keen attention to detail.
Personal protective equipment required on the site includes CSA‑approved safety shoes, hearing protection, high‑visibility clothing, gloves, safety glasses, and CSA‑approved hard hats.
