Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Description

The company is hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist who will report to the Director of EHS and support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across project sites and office locations. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT, while promoting a positive safety culture through collaboration with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and corporate leadership.

• Monitor EHS performance across project sites and implement corrective actions.
• Provide EHS support to project management, field operations, and subcontractors.
• Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and related training.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other U.S. regulations.
• Maintain EHS programs, manuals, and management systems.
• Participate in incident/near‑miss reporting, root‑cause investigations, and corrective‑action follow‑up.
• Conduct trainings, site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Collect and analyze safety metrics and leading indicators.
• Respond to field inquiries and safety communications, including after‑hours support.
• Coordinate safe work planning and risk mitigation with project teams.
• Assist with environmental compliance tasks such as waste management, stormwater BMPs, and spill response.
• Travel periodically to job sites and company locations as required.

Requirements

• Travel up to 30% of the time, including occasional overnights and weekends, for business purposes.
• Hold an associate’s or higher degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field.
• Possess working knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926 standards and basic environmental compliance concepts.
• Be proficient with MS Office and other SaaS tools.
• Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to collect data, analyze issues, and recommend improvements.
• Work independently while supporting multiple project teams.
• Exhibit strong organization, time‑management, and willingness to work on active construction sites.
• Possess EHS‑related certifications (e.g., CHMM, CSP, ASP, GSP) – preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 – preferred.
