Healthcare Technology Project Designer

Description

The Technology Project Designer role, based in Naperville, IL (or other locations), leads low‑ to moderate‑complexity ICT design projects and supports senior staff on larger efforts. The position involves collaborating with engineers and consultants to deliver low‑voltage building systems, managing budgets, mentoring staff, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout design and construction phases.

• Lead design of IT structured cabling, audio/video, security, and other low‑voltage systems using engineering software and IMEG standards
• Engage clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain professional relationships
• Plan, budget, schedule, and document project tasks, tracking progress and fee expenditure
• Analyze engineering challenges and propose innovative, practical solutions with senior staff
• Conduct in‑process design reviews and apply IMEG quality control to meet industry and client standards
• Stay current on low‑voltage technology trends and contribute to research and innovation
• Prioritize safety by identifying and mitigating risks associated with ICT systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
• Identify potential project issues and consult the Project Manager as needed
• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases

Requirements

• Proficiency in creating technical plans and specifications
• Strong technical and analytical skills in low‑voltage electrical principles and IT networking
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
• Competence with industry‑standard engineering software and tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Team‑oriented work style with attention to detail and problem‑solving
• Adaptability to new challenges and continuous learning
• Proficiency in BIM software and the Microsoft Office suite
• Clear oral and written communication for individuals and groups
• Willingness to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
• BS degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, IT, Computer Science, or related STEM field (or equivalent)
• Preferred Engineering In Training (EIT) certification
• Minimum 3 years (preferred 4) experience in building design consulting, or 7 years (preferred 8) in building design or construction with an associate degree or BIM certificate
• Physical ability to sit, walk, stand, lift up to 25 lb, and perform occasional climbing or stooping tasks

Benefits

Salary ranges from $83,000 to $112,000, with additional rewards such as annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
