The Chief Engineer leads the engineering department, providing daily leadership to staff and managing the engineering program to deliver high‑quality work and superior customer service. This role aligns operations with the Cushman & Wakefield engineering platform, client expectations, and the company’s Business Code of Conduct. The engineer is also responsible for overseeing mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and manpower development, and may perform limited hands‑on duties and watch activities.
Core duties include supervising engineers and maintenance personnel, ensuring performance management and safety compliance, and managing building operational accounts and utility programs. The Chief Engineer conducts regular system inspections, develops preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, maintains procedure manuals and an operations document library, and coordinates maintenance with contractors and tenants. Additional responsibilities cover emergency response, inventory control, contract administration, and adherence to codes and regulatory directives.
Successful candidates demonstrate strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, technical, and leadership skills. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least seven years of commercial property engineering experience, and relevant vocational or trade certifications such as Journeyman or Master Electrician licenses. Financial acumen for budget analysis, familiarity with energy management and fire alarm systems, and proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word are also essential.
The role operates in a professional office environment with typical office equipment and involves physical activities such as moving around the workplace and occasional on‑call duties.
