  • Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates moderately complex components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis) and safety.
  • Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
  • Designs, develops, validates and delivers cost reduction opportunities aligned with application testing, product specifications and process validation plans for home standby generators and/or components; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials.
  • Provides product support to the Consumer Power Home Standby product line including: Value Add/Value Engineering (VA/VE) ideation, creating and maintaining CAD models, drawings and BOMs, supporting product cost-out plans including schedule management, interfacing with internal company personnel and providing technical support for assigned projects.
  • Supporting product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
  • Designs, validates, and delivers product cost reductions to market
  • Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, sourcing engineers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for highest cost efficiency.

  • Experience conducting “should cost” analysis and assessing return on Investment (ROI) of cost reduction projects
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Ability to translate technical information to all audiences
  • VA/VE experience in delivering improved product margins
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Design experience with a variety of materials (plastics, aluminum castings, sheet metal, etc.) and basic knowledge of material specs and use
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP
  • Experience with 3D modeling such as Creo or SolidWorks
