Senior Cost Manager

Description

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our client, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

• Time Management / Planning - Monitor progress and time taken to complete tasks to ensure tasks completion stays on track. Balance the time spent on activities, understanding and prioritising the urgency of tasks. Forecasts issues that will hinder the accomplishment of tasks. Effectively handling multiple tasks without compromising quality.
• Undertaking cost management services with limited supervision.
• Ensure effective interaction between the cost management team and the operational teams.
• Employee Focus / Process Compliance - Specialising in roles related to employee-centric practices. Actively coordinate efforts to enhance employee experience, such as planning & executing recognition programs, conducting surveys, and organising employee well-being initiatives. Identifies external regulations that can impact the organization.
• Commercial Acumen / Business Development - Manage commercials on project delivery with support from more senior team members. Assist in creation and delivery of proposals.
• Prepare cost estimates of project design stages.
• Leadership / Management skills - Delegate tasks, provide feedback, and develop coaching abilities. Responsible for the day-to-day management and optimisation of the teams' operations and performance.
• Monitor the contract's final cost estimates.
• Carry out cost management including forecasting.
• Review, negotiate, and prepare claim settlements.
• Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects, liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
• Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments.
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
• Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
• Providing support to the team leader/service leaders in the cost management of projects.
• Creativity / Innovation - Staying informed about the latest developments with industry technological advancements. Organise workshops or initiatives to foster creativity.
• Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients.
• Prepare the Final Account with all supporting documentation.
• Day-to-day management of AESG Cost Management project delivery and resource management.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have experience working as part of a dedicated consultancy team delivering successful cost management services on a giga project. The role will offer significant opportunities for progression and career development. You will need to demonstrate relevant and recent experience with appropriately sized projects as well as the ability to engage and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a technical and experience-based QS background, a solid understanding of numerous design standards, and the ability to communicate advice appropriately and effectively. MRICS achievement or aspiration is preferred but not necessarily mandatory for the right individual.

DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE BASE AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLSET

• Able to work independently on complex tasks.

• Leadership / Team Management Experience - Commence taking on elements of team management in sub projects. Demonstratable experience in managing small team of 2 or more, on live projects, or mentoring junior team members / graduates. Uphold AESG Core Values.
• Minimum 8+ years of working experience.
• Measurement and CostX superuser.
• Project Management / Operational Delivery - Ability to independently manage the delivery of smaller projects ($50k) in a Client facing role. Strong knowledge of technical discipline with experience in executing previous projects to a high level of independence.
• Significant experience and advanced competencies.
• Communication / Collaboration - Collaborate on projects, share insights, and coordinate efforts across departments. Handle disagreements or conflicts within teams or on projects constructively. Excellent communication and listening skills. Set realistic expectations. Understand the importance of tailoring communication style to different audiences. High proficiency of English spoken and written skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft office and expert Excel skills.
• Client Focus / Relationship Building - Ability to independently represent the company in a Client facing role and manage Client satisfaction.
• Strong understanding of Construction costs in KSA.
• Strategic Vision / Planning - Actively contribute to the larger picture. Buy-in to corporate and divisional strategy. Ability to assist various divisions in developing business opportunities.
• Problem Solving / Decision Making - May take on roles that involve coordinating tasks and solving specific problems within their areas of responsibility. Developing more advanced problem-solving skills, such as root cause analysis, and become proficient at making decisions that impact their immediate teams.
• Industry Experience / Thought Leadership - Demonstrated industry experience on a wide range of related project types, proven ability to efficiently manage project deadlines. Begin to establish the credibility as emerging thought leaders.
• BSc or MSc in a Quantity Surveying or Contracts related field.
• Technical Knowledge / Expertise - Undertake more intricate tasks and projects, applying knowledge to solve practical problems. Showcasing analytical prowess and capacity to independently carry out tasks. Demonstrating strong commitment to learning and continually expanding their knowledge base.
