Chemists work on customer sites providing chemical management, packaging, and disposal services for both hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. This role focuses on ensuring safe handling and regulatory compliance in the field.
Key duties include conducting routine inspections and audits of hazmat storage, classifying and segregating chemicals, labeling and packaging materials according to federal and state regulations, and training staff on proper handling techniques. Chemists also respond to emergency spills, perform cleanup, prepare shipping documents, coordinate transportation, and consolidate waste through bulking and repackaging. They advise customers on government regulations, health and safety practices, and proper disposal methods.
Preferred qualifications include experience with hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling, as well as working knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations. Candidates must be willing to obtain a commercial driver’s license within 90 days, use required PPE—including air‑purifying respirators—and pass physical, drug, background, and OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour training. A valid driver’s license is required as a minimum qualification.
Employees receive competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, health‑care and dependent‑care spending accounts, short‑ and long‑term disability, and life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance. Additional perks comprise a 401(k) plan with company match, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off, and various employee discount programs. The company also offers an Employee and Family Assistance Program and other wellness resources.
