The technician will read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics, then install, maintain, calibrate, and repair a wide range of electronic and industrial instrumentation. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, testing equipment for accuracy, preparing reports, and troubleshooting electrical and process control systems. The role also involves assisting supervisors with material planning, reviewing work orders, and handling special projects while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, isometric drawings, engineering instructions, and manufacture instructions
- Installs, repairs, maintains, and calibrates electronic equipment, controls, and measuring devices
- Tests and analyzes electronic and measuring equipment for accuracy and functionality
- Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems
- Complete reports on tests, repairs, and installations
- Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test a wide variety of industrial instrumentation for level, flow, pressure, temperature, and other parameters
- Lay out, install, and place into service new metering, controlling, and recording devices and may extend or connect related electrical circuits
- Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes in instruments, circuits, and systems
- Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters, and other instruments using various test equipment
- Install and troubleshoot electrical, instrument, and process equipment to diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair instrument and electrical problems associated with process control instruments
- Review I&E maintenance activities and report deficiencies to supervision
- Assist supervisor in estimating, planning, and procuring materials for maintenance and capital projects
- Review work orders and equipment history to identify and correct recurring problems
- Responsible for special projects as assigned
- Keep abreast of instrument and electrical equipment at the site
- Comply with and help enforce all company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices

ZACHRY is accepting applications for an experienced Instrument Technician to work at the Cheniere site in Cameron, LA. A current TWIC card and driver’s license are required, and the position does not provide per diem.
Candidates must have at least five years of instrumentation experience and ten years of maintenance work, preferably in a chemical plant environment. Strong leadership, communication, and mechanical aptitude are required, along with a complete set of journeyman tools and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs. Knowledge of electrical theory, gauge handling, and calibration processes is essential, as is reliable transportation and a commitment to follow all company and project guidelines.
The position demands extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as work at heights up to 300 ft with proper fall protection. Employees must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and wear required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and fall‑arrest harnesses.

- Highly disciplined to do steady work and meet schedule, including overtime and callout
- Required to have all journeymen tools and experience with associated power tools
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and other documentation
- Must be able to check performance using testing and measuring instruments and make necessary adjustments
- Must have knowledge of electrical theory and its application to connecting, wiring, and calibrating electronic devices
- Must have knowledge of working with gauges and other measurement devices
- Must have experience in calibration, both performing and working with calibration laboratories
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to represent Zachry with customers
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must be willing to follow directions from authorized supervisors or customer agents
- Must be willing to follow all company and project policies, rules, and guidelines
- Must be willing to assist in any additional qualified duties assigned
