  • Review and validate as-built drawings, schematics, and cable terminations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review submittals, test reports, shop drawings, and wiring diagrams for switchgear, rectifier units, transformers, and low-voltage control systems.
  • Ensure conformance with MTA Power Division standards, National Electrical Code (NEC), and IEEE requirements for high- and low-tension systems.
  • Coordinate with MTA C&D, Power Command Center (PCC), Con Edison, system integrators, and contractors to manage interface testing and system acceptance.
  • Support the Resident Engineer with schedule tracking, coordination meetings, RFI and submittal reviews, and change management.
  • Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures consistent with the project’s Quality Assurance Plan and MTA electrical standards.
  • Verify proper installation and connection of Property Line Boxes (PLBs), conduits, control and feeder cables, and grounding systems.
  • Oversee and document testing and commissioning of SCADA interfaces, control relays, metering systems, and communication panels tied to the Power Command Center (PCC).
  • Promote and enforce strict safety compliance for high-voltage and low-voltage work zones per OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and MTA safety protocols.
  • Facilitate communication between field teams, engineers, and stakeholders for work involving property line boxes, feeders, switchgear lineups, and rectifier transformers.
  • Oversee energization, isolation, and cutover operations in coordination with MTA Power and Con Edison to ensure safe transition from high-voltage to low-voltage systems.
  • Maintain daily inspection logs, deficiency reports, and testing records for all traction power and substation systems.
  • Participate in risk assessments and hazard analyses related to energized equipment, confined spaces, arc-flash exposure, and substation environments.
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during switching, testing, and energization of high-tension circuits and low-tension control systems.
  • Witness factory and field acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) for switchgear, rectifiers, transformers, and SCADA components.
  • Supervise and oversee construction, installation, and testing of high-tension (AC) and low-tension (DC) electrical systems, including Con Edison service feeders, transformers, rectifiers, switchgear, and power distribution panels.
  • Prepare detailed weekly and monthly progress reports summarizing field progress, upcoming work, safety issues, and testing activities.
  • Ensure that all field work complies with MTA Power and Con Edison safety requirements for energized traction power systems.
  • Day and night shifts may be required during cutovers, testing, and energization activities.

  • Travel within the New York metropolitan area may be required for meetings, inspections, or coordination with MTA Power Command Center (PCC).
  • Familiarity with ProjectWise, Unifier, OneDrive, and MS Teams for project communication and document management.
  • Proficiency in construction inspection, QA/QC documentation, testing and commissioning, and electrical safety best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead electrical inspection teams and coordinate multi-discipline contractors in energized environments.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in construction engineering and field supervision of electrical, traction power, and substation systems.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of substation equipment, including rectifiers, transformers, switchgear, and protective relays.
  • Prior experience on MTA, Port Authority, or utility-scale electrical infrastructure projects required.
  • Familiarity with MTA Power Division, Con Edison interface protocols, electrical code compliance, and energization procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Con Edison service integration, traction power substations, high-tension and low-tension switchgear, transformers, rectifiers, and SCADA control systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA telemetry, control wiring, and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong technical writing and field reporting capabilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in New York State required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, and MS Teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
