Plant Manager (HMA)

Description

The Plant Manager will be responsible for safe, efficient plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and staffing, ensuring mixes meet specifications and project schedules. The role requires close coordination with project managers, paving superintendents, and logistics teams, as well as oversight of mobilization, demobilization, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

• Oversee day‑to‑day plant startup, shutdown, and production to meet cost, quality, and quantity goals.
• Plan and adjust output to align with paving schedules, coordinating with project managers and dispatch.
• Supervise, schedule, and mentor plant staff while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
• Perform or direct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Monitor quality‑control test results and adjust materials and plant settings to meet project and DOT specifications.
• Manage inventories of asphalt, aggregates, RAP, fuel, and consumables, forecasting needs and coordinating deliveries.
• Lead plant mobilization and demobilization, including site setup, utilities, and layout planning.
• Maintain accurate production, maintenance, safety, and environmental records.
• Execute additional duties assigned by operations or area leadership to support project success.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years hot‑mix asphalt plant experience, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or plant‑manager role.
• Proven track record operating plants for heavy‑civil or highway projects, preferably mobile or remote.
• Strong knowledge of HMA production, mix designs, plant controls, and DOT specifications.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to train and develop crew in a fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable record, and willingness to travel frequently to remote sites.
