The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front‑end loaders at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. The role focuses on transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil efficiently and safely.
Key duties include performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections to ensure windows, lights, mirrors, and cameras are clean, continuously monitoring waste for prohibited materials, and keeping equipment operationally ready by cleaning tracks or wheels. The operator also performs minor servicing, documents service, reports repairs, completes equipment condition reports, follows all safety policies, and maintains a clean shop at shift end.
The position requires strong customer service skills, effective time management, and a reliable follow‑through ability. Candidates must adhere to company policies, promote safety standards, and take pride in their work. Minimum qualifications are two years of heavy‑equipment operation experience and one year working at OSHA‑regulated sites.
