The Project Engineer provides technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager, ensuring that construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications.
This role reports directly to the Project Manager and is accountable for delivering accurate engineering support.
Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, researching and resolving drawing issues, preparing field design change requisitions and as‑built drawings, and generating documentation such as status reports, punch lists, and material calculations.
Additional duties involve supervising field layout and surveying activities, reviewing and issuing valid drawings, maintaining engineering books and records, ensuring concrete inspections are completed, and caring for surveying equipment.
Performance is measured by accurate blueprint interpretation, timely resolution of drawing problems, proper preparation of change requisitions and documentation, effective presentation of discrepancies, and diligent maintenance of document control logs.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with advanced computer skills and a working knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, specifications, and building material standards. Preferred candidates have three years of construction experience and the ability to perform mathematical calculations and communicate effectively.
Physical demands involve primarily office work with occasional site inspections that require walking, climbing ladders and stairs, and the ability to see, hear, and speak clearly. Mentally, the engineer must handle stressful deadlines, communicate in English both verbally and in writing, and interpret business math and data.
Working conditions consist of roughly half the time in a climate‑controlled office and half in the field, with typical workdays of eight to ten hours and occasional early‑morning or late‑evening meetings.
