Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician

Description

• Review and interpret reliability route data, identify developing issues, and generate detailed work requests.
• Conduct periodic calibration and maintenance of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMs) to ensure environmental compliance.
• Provide support as needed to the Panoche and Midway Hybrid Energy Centers.
• Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signals, communication systems, and storage batteries; work with electrical systems up to 4,160 volts.
• Maintain accurate files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
• Manage forecasting, inventory, and reordering of spare parts to maintain plant reliability and availability.
• Utilize vibration, infrared, and ultrasonic tools during reliability routes to monitor equipment condition.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on major equipment, systems, and emergency backup systems associated with the two GE LM6000 PC Sprint combustion turbine generator units.
• Handle additional tasks as assigned to promote efficient operation of the Malaga Power Facility.
• Troubleshoot and analyze DCS, PLC, and turbine control equipment to support reliable LM6000 operation.
• Support vibration and reliability efforts by applying advanced technologies to identify early indicators of machinery defects before scheduled downtime repairs.
• Assist with the administrative upkeep of operating manuals, technical references, diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance documentation.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of PLC and DCS systems, including calibration and diagnostic techniques.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Familiarity with the calibration and maintenance of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and control diagrams.
• Adaptable and willing to support plant operations by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Proficient in maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment up to 4160 volts.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report technical findings clearly.
• Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program or 2 years of work experience as a technician in a related industry is desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Experience with diagnostic technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
• Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
