The Construction Safety Specialist works across departments to support AvalonBay’s corporate safety and health program, ensuring compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations. Assigned to a community or business unit, the specialist identifies hazardous conditions, develops solutions, and supports all safety‑related functions within the organization.
The role involves physical activity such as climbing stairs and ladders, standing, walking, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds while wearing required personal protective equipment. Work is primarily on‑site at community or regional offices with travel between locations as needed.
Candidates must hold an OSHA 30 certification (or obtain it within 90 days) and CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days); BCSP certification is preferred. New hires must complete AvalonBay’s orientation within 30 days and any additional training assigned by management.
