The Client Accounting Coordinator provides accounting, technical, and clerical support to client accounting personnel, working closely with Accounting Specialists, Accountants, and taking direction from Department Leads, Controllers, or the Vice President of Client Accounting. This role ensures timeliness and accuracy in all assigned team functions.
The position utilizes sound judgment and due diligence across relationships, reporting, and profitability functions, supporting team members, enforcing policies, maintaining internal controls, and continuously seeking innovative strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Provides support to Accounting Specialists, Accountants, and Accounting Managers as needed.
- Performs the duties of other Client Accounting Coordinators as required (in their absence).
- Supports and enforces company and accounting policies as well as all applicable federal, state and local statutes and regulations.
- Completes team functions as defined by the designated department manager or Department Lead, including processing accounts payable, reconciling bank accounts, or performing basic audit work.
- Compiles and sorts documents such as forms, invoices, checks, and bank statements.
- Performs any combination of calculating, posting, or verifying duties to confirm the details of business transactions and maintain financial information.
- Compares data contained in a variety of financial records in order to detect trends, errors, or anomalies.
- Maintains files and support documentation required to authenticate business transactions.
- Supports and enforces internal controls established by the department and company, and discloses any weaknesses relating to such controls or the lack thereof.
- Applies quality measures and standards within all areas of responsibility to support the company’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Continually seeks to identify innovative strategies for increasing department efficiencies and reducing expenses.

Key skills include a basic knowledge of department-specific accounting functions, a detail‑oriented work ethic, aptitude for numbers, and proficiency with current accounting software and Microsoft Office. Professionalism, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and strong written and verbal communication are also essential.
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a comparable business field is preferred, though candidates currently enrolled in a degree program are also considered. Prior accounting experience is not required for this entry‑level position but will be valued.
The role has light physical demands, requiring frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, as well as normal visual acuity. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
