  • Assume responsibility for tracking and proactively monitoring craft labor compensation, including labor market data and trends.
  • Lead the creation of career paths, certification criteria, and advancement opportunities for craft professionals.
  • Facilitate performance reviews and compensation adjustments amongst craft workforce.
  • Lead the integration of safety best practices across craft operations, including hazard identification, risk mitigation, and pre-task planning.
  • Assume responsibility for managing any craft workforce grievances, issues or disputes while partnering with other company resources/departments (Safety and/or Human Resources)
  • Classify craft employees by trade, skill set, and certifications to maximize workforce deployment.
  • Partner with Project Management to proactively identify and mitigate schedule and cost impacts associated with project changes affecting craft labor resources.
  • Partner with General Superintendents, Project Managers, and Superintendents to align staffing plans and monitor workforce effectiveness through site visits.
  • This role will split time between an office environment and active construction job sites.
  • Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely submission and approval of personal time off (PTO) requests from the craft workforce.
  • Manage regional and national deployment of craft labor, utilizing internal workforce planning tools.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and reinforce corrective training.
  • Partner with internal and external training providers to deliver technical, safety, leadership, and technology training.
  • Manage and implement apprenticeship programs.
  • Provide expert guidance and assist in the strategic selection of tools and equipment necessary for efficient and safe craft self-perform operations.
  • Maintain a clear picture of current and future workforce needs; identify and close skill gaps.
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition department to strategically support the recruitment and engaging onboarding processes for all craft personnel.
  • Ensure continuous skill development to strengthen Boyd Jones’ self-perform capabilities.

  • Ability to travel regularly between project sites (regional and occasional national).
  • The position requires adherence to all safety protocols, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and consistent modeling of a safety-first mindset.
  • Regular travel between project sites and company offices is required, which may include regional and occasional national travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
  • Office setting includes standard equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and related technology in a climate-controlled environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Construction job sites involve exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) and fluctuating outdoor temperatures.
  • High School diploma/GED required; Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred (relevant experience considered in lieu).
  • Proficiency in workforce planning and construction management software, along with MS Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • 7+ years of commercial construction experience, with at least 5 years in field labor management or supervision.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and consistent application of owner and subcontractor contract terms and conditions as they relate to craft labor requirements and self-perform work.
  • Proven success in workforce planning, craft development, and labor productivity management.
