Senior Estimator

Description

• Brings resilience, structure, and expertise to the estimating function.
• Develop pricing strategies and cost models, especially for asset-heavy and lifecycle portfolio work.
• Support strategic bids and framework submissions, including maintenance and long-term programme models.
• Manage supply chain engagement — ensuring competitive pricing, strong relationships, and a resilient partner network across the Midlands region.
• Contribute to the continual improvement of estimating processes, systems, and cost databases.
• Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for refurbishment, asset management, maintenance, and construction projects.
• Work closely with operational, commercial, and asset management teams to ensure accurate handover into delivery.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required.
• Build comprehensive BoQs, estimates, and tender submissions to high professional standards.
• Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to determine scope, risk, and commercial opportunities.
• Mentor and support Junior Estimators, helping develop their technical and commercial capability.

This is a role for someone who is confident, collaborative, and eager to develop our capability across both traditional refurbishment projects and long-term maintenance frameworks.

We are looking for someone who brings both technical competence and the ability to contribute to team development. You will help shape estimating processes, mentor junior colleagues, and ensure robust tendering across a wide range of project types.

As part of significant regional growth, we are recruiting a highly capable Senior Estimator to strengthen our clients estimating team. This role plays a key part in improving the region’s resilience and expertise, particularly in asset management, maintenance pricing, lifecycle work, refurbishment, and construction projects.

• Experience in framework bidding, public sector tenders, or maintenance contracts.
• Experience in asset management, planned maintenance, or lifecycle costing.
• Ability to analyse technical information, build structured cost models, and communicate pricing rationale.
• Able to work independently while contributing to a regional team structure.
• Background that includes both hands-on site experience and office-based estimating.
• Willing to travel to project locations across Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, and other areas as required.
• Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, construction techniques, and supply chain cost drivers.
• Enjoys coaching developing estimators and raising team capability.
• Familiarity with estimating software, such as ConQuest, Candy, or similar.
• Confident in leading tender processes and presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Strong relationships across the construction supply chain, ideally with established Midlands contacts.
• Can confidently handle both refurbishment and maintenance-based pricing.
• Proven experience in an Estimator or Senior Estimator role within construction, refurbishment, or maintenance sectors.
