The Material Manager role supports Probst’s high‑voltage transmission, distribution, and substation projects throughout the Western United States. Reporting to project leadership, the manager will lead material planning, procurement, logistics, inventory control, and distribution for multiple job sites, ensuring the right materials arrive on time to keep construction schedules on track. The ideal candidate brings experience in large‑scale construction or utility projects and values accuracy, accountability, and fast‑paced coordination.
- Develop and manage material procurement plans with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors.
- Oversee purchasing, receiving, inspection, and inventory control across all project sites.
- Maintain tracking systems to ensure part, tool, and equipment availability and traceability.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to meet project milestones.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder points to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Ensure materials meet project specifications and applicable codes/standards.
- Manage warehouse operations and on‑site material staging for efficiency.
- Document material transfers between sites, including equipment rentals.
- Collaborate with accounting and procurement on invoice approvals and budget compliance.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities through bulk purchases, vendor negotiations, or inventory optimization.

- Possess 3–5+ years of material management experience in construction or utility sectors.
- Understand electrical components, construction materials, and procurement processes.
- Proficient with project management tools, inventory software, and ERP systems.
- Able to interpret project drawings/specifications and coordinate material needs.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities; forklift certification a plus.
- Preferred: experience with high‑voltage transmission, distribution, or substation projects; familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project); knowledge of federal or utility contract requirements; awareness of environmental regulations for material handling.
